Voor de cultuurliefhebber is er van alles te beleven in en rondom Nerja. Er is jaarlijks een aantal grote feesten en festivals. Bijna elke maand is er wel één, onder andere: Driekoningen in Januari, Carnaval in Februari, Semana Santa in April, San Juan in Juni, Virgen del Carmen in Juli en de hele week feest tijdens de Feria in Oktober.

Voor muziekliefhebbers is er jaarlijks een festival in en rondom de grotten van Nerja. Het cultureel centrum heeft ook een mooi programma met muziek, dans en theater.

Nerja kent één museum, el museo del Nerja, waarin de historie van Nerja wordt belicht. In Malaga en Granada zijn tientallen musea waarbij het Alhambra sowieso niet gemist moet worden.

Elke dinsdag en zondag is er in Nerja een traditionele markt waar werkelijk van alles te koop is: verse etenswaren, kleding, sierraden en schilderijen.
