For those who love cultural activities there is plenty going on in and around Nerja. Almost every month there is an event or festival, amongst others Three Kings Day in January, Carnival in February, Semana Santa in April and a week long party at the Feria in October.

There is one museum in Nerja: el museo del Nerja, which explains the history of Nerja. In Malaga and Granada are many more, the Alhambra in Granada the most famous one, that shouldn’t be missed. There is a traditional market every Tuesday where you can buy everything from fresh food to clothing, jewelry and art.

There is a musical festival in and around the caves every year. The centre of culture offers dance, theater and music performances. Check out their schedule.

16 July Virgen del Carmen, saint of the fisherman. Procession from the Balcon to Torrecilla beach. From there on the virgin will be put on a boat and pass all the beaches and end up at the Calahonda beach. Before returning the virgin to the church, there will be fireworks on the beach.

August  Festival de tres culturas in Frigiliana, last weekend August
12 Oct +  Feria de Nerja, around the 10th (virgen de Angustias y San Miguel) and 12th (dia de Pilar, national holiday), there will be a small week of fiesta with fair, music bands, miss- and mister elections etc.
